Bank of Maldives (BML), on Monday, announced 10 winning proposals for the final phase of the 2020 'Aharenge Bank Community Fund', a nationwide campaign to empower individuals and NGOs to contribute to society by conducting sustainable community projects.

Winning applicants and proposals:

- Installing solar powered street lights in Goidhoo, Shaviyani Atoll: Ibrahim Nisham Ahmed

- Establishing a public library in Fainu, Raa Atoll: Fainu Association for Community Endeavors

- Community park development in Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll: West Wings Eydhafushi

- Community facility renovation in Kurendhoo, Lhaviyani Atoll: Keesa - Kurendhoo Environment Education Sports Association

- Revamp the beach library in Hulhumale’, Kaafu Atoll: Children of Maldives

- Establishing a fish cutting platform in Bodufulhadhoo, Alif Alif Atoll: Revolutionary Bodufulhadhoo Generation

- Establishing a reading park in Thoddoo, Alif Alif Atoll: Adam Afsal

- Community garden development in Fonadhoo, Laamu Atoll: Fonadhoo Environment and Sustainability Development

- Support for effective waste management system in Gadhdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll: Saastra Community

- Establishing a nature park in Hoadehdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll: Hoadehdhoo Sports

"We received a number of great proposals for Aharenge Bank Community Fund this quarter. Our gratitude and thanks goes to the individuals and NGOs for initiating these projects and working tirelessly to deliver it", said BML's Manager of Public Relations Mohamed Saeed.

"We are happy to support and be a part of the success of these projects”.

Under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund, BML selects and allocates MVR 50,000 to projects in the areas of education, environment, sports and community development.

For 2020, BML announced three proposal phases, with five proposals selected in the first and second phases while 10 winning proposals were chosen for the third phase.

According to BML, the bank has provided funding for projects in 40 islands across Maldives under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund till date.
