The Ministry of Trade and Civil Aviation, on Thursday, contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the development of the passenger terminal and fire safety building at Hoarafushi Airport in Haa Alif Atoll.
The project contract was signed by the Minister of Trade and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula and MTCC's Managing Director Adam Azim.
A budget of over MVR 16.1 million was allocated for the project which is scheduled for completion within an 80-day period.
MTCC also carried out reclamation efforts across 842,200 square metres to develop the airort at Hoarafushi and constructed a 1,120 metre revetment at the island.
According to MTCC, construction work for the airport project, with an overall budget allocation of MVR 198 million, is set to conclude in September.
