The Maldives' first pilot, Captain Ibrahim Rasheed, completed his last flight on Thursday, May 4, retiring after 40 years of service.
Captain Ibrahim Rasheed, who served as a pilot at Villa Air's Flyme, flew his last flight to Malé before retiring at the age of 65. The aircraft was given a water salute upon its arrival at Velana International Airport.
After the flight, many Flyme employees and aviation industry personnel took photos with Ibrahim Rasheed to commemorate the occasion.
Ibrahim Rasheed underwent pilot training in Thailand and started his career as a pilot in 1983 at Air Maldives. He also served in Island Aviation, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
Captain Ibrahim Rasheed, a well-known officer in MNDF, was the first person in the Maldives to obtain a flight captain's license.
