Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, on Tuesday, announced that Kulhudhuffushi Airport in Haa Dhaal Atoll would commence operations on August 9.
According to the Ministry, Maldivian, the national airline, would begin selling tickets for Kulhudhuffushi starting from Tuesday onwards.
Island Aviation Services (IAS) stated that Maldivian flights would land at Kulhudhuffushi during the upcoming Eid holidays, adding that final preparations were underway.
The domestic airport was inaugurated by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on September 22, 2018, after he flew aboard the first aircraft that landed at Kulhudhuffushi. However, regular flights were not scheduled at that point.
The decision to commence services at Kulhudhuffushi Airport was finalised after the completion of the terminal and fire station.
