Discussions centred around potential opportunities in the country's fisheries industry.
The government of Maldives has met with Chinese investors, and explained opportunities that exist within the Maldivian fisheries industry to invest in.
The Fisheries Ministry wrote in the government news website yesterday that information on mariculture and blue economy was shared with Chinese businesses and that details on the government's efforts to boost these fields were also shared with them.
These include the development of sports fishing harbours and efforts to strengthen the mariculture industry.
The meeting was attended by Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam and other senior officials of the ministry.
Additionally, Fisheries Ministry also held a meeting with a team from the First Institute of Oceanography of China's Natural Resources Ministry.
During the meeting, discussions centred around a potential agreement between the Maldives Marine Research Institute and the Chinese institute, said Fisheries Ministry.
