Police said that they received reports of a dead body being found in the ground floor of a residential building in Maafannu ward of Male' city this afternoon at 14:20 hrs.
The body was found in Rabeeu Villa in Maafannu ward, Male' City, and reports indicate the body had severely decomposed, suggesting it had remained undiscovered for a number of days.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased person as of yet.
Police are still active at the scene.
Last week, on May 15, a dead body was discovered in a vehicle parked in Hulhumale', who was identified as a foreigner. A few days before that, on May 13, another dead body had been discovered in a flat in Bandeyri Koshi in Male', who was later identified as a Maldivian man.
Rabeeu Villa, where the body was discovered today, had caught fire on April 10. The building has since been closed off due to safety concerns.
