Maldives Police Service has commenced investigation of a case involving a blaze torture on a child.
According to local law enforcement, the incident was reported from Alif Alif atoll. Moreover, police said that the suspect is the victim's father.
Police responded regarding the case that an adult holding a fiduciary relationship and duty of care had been suspected of torturing a 12 year old male child, which was reported on Tuesday, 26th April.
Meanwhile, the victim's condition is currently stable and has since been transferred to a safer environment.
Authorities further confirmed that the torture incident was reported by the victim's mother.
Despite the victim's father being considered the prime and only suspect, authorities had not apprehended the father. Moreover, Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services is collaborating with Maldives Police with the case.
