Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has appointed Colonel Mohamed Saleem as the new Commandant of the Coastguard.
Colonel Saleem was presented with the letter of appointment by the Chief of Defense Force Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdulla at a special ceremony held for the occasion.
Previously, Saleem had been both the Principal Director and the Commandant of the Coastguard as well.
Colonel Saleem is replacing former Coastguard Commandant Brigadier Ibrahim Hilmy, who was promoted to the position of Vice Chief of Defense Force on December 13.
