According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs a total of 294 people have departed on the first flight carrying Maldivian Hajj pilgrims to Mecca.
A total of 6 flights have been arranged to transport this year’s pilgrims. These flights are scheduled to leave june 12,13, 15, 16 and 19. The first group of pilgrims departed on June 12.
● 90 pilgrims travelling with Sisilfaru Hajj and Umrah Group will leave on June 13.
● 90 pilgrims travelling with Al-Manasik Hajj and Umrah Group will leave on June 15.
● 290 pilgrims travelling with Hajj Corporation and 90 pilgrims travelling with Al-Haramain Hajj and Umrah Group will leave on June 16.
● 290 pilgrims travelling with Hajj Corporation will leave on 19 June.
Saudi Arabia allocated a total of 1000 slots for Maldivian pilgrims this year. Each of the three private groups with permission to provide Hajj and Umrah services were each allocated 90 slots. The rest of the slots were allocated to Hajj Corporation.
The Ministry has arranged dedicated transportation to Velana International Airport for pilgrims leaving from Malé, Villimalé and Hulhumalé.
Arrangements have also been made to collect and transport their luggage to the airport. This was done in coordination with the respective government agencies.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs said that special arrangements will be made for the elderly and the sick to travel in smaller vehicles to the bus that will carry them to the airport.
Hajj pilgrims and their families will travel to the airport in air conditioned buses or air conditioned ferries.Their luggage will be collected and taken to the airport one day prior to their scheduled departure.
The government has appointed Vice President Faisal Naseeem as the Head of the Maldivian pilgrims for this year.
