Male Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) awarded CCCC Second Harbour Engineering of China the project to design the water supply pipe network to be laid across the bridge being developed between capital Male and airport island Hulhule.
MWSC’s Managing Director Fazul Rasheed and CCCC Second Harbour Engineering’s Deputy Project Manager Huang Long signed the agreement on Tuesday. The project was awarded for USD 200,000 (MVR 3 million) to be completed within 70 days.
CCCC Second Harbour Engineering is also the contractor of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge being developed between Male and Hulhumale.
Speaking to reporters after the signing ceremony, MWSC’s MD Fazul stated that the water supply network across the bridge falls under MWSC’s Water Security Plan to provide long-term water supply to the residents of Male.
Announcing that MWSC plans to conduct more projects in partnership with CCCC, Fazul said that further details of the water supply pipe network will be revealed after its detailed designs have been finalised.
He added that the equipment to lay the pipes from Male to Hulhule across the bridge will be procured towards the end of this year.
