An account under the username 'Ablor Myad Yosef' made the threat, Police said, adding that the incident is being investigated as a serious case.
Police had been investigating Facebook accounts believed to be used by Miyaad, which had posted death threats and threats of harm directed at President Muizzu, various state officials, and others.
In addition to these threats, police reported that Miyaad had used obscene language on social media and shared posts promoting homosexuality.
The account has over 9000 followers, and has frequently made threats against several individuals. One such incidence is where the account has comment "needs [your] throat slashed" under a post by former MP for Madaveli Hussain Firushan.
