Over the past three years, more than 50,000 people have received treatment for heart disease alone.

During a press conference following the commencement of medical check-ups under Aasandha on Sunday, January 1, Aasandha Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya stated that in 2021, 2022, and 2023, a total of 57,709 patients were treated for heart and cardiovascular diseases. These conditions include cholesterol issues, high blood pressure, and stroke.

Lung-related diseases were the second most commonly treated, with a total of 35,806 patients receiving treatment through Aasandha. Diabetes was the third-highest, with a total of 30,803 patients treated. The fourth-highest number of patients received treatment for kidney-related ailments, totaling 11,635.

Zeeniya said that 3,294 people have received cancer treatment in the last three years.

She said that the government's new medical check-up packages are designed to facilitate the diagnosis of the maximum number of patients. The packages have been categorized into four types, with separate tests specified for both men and women, according to Aasandha.

At the press conference, Dharumavantha Hospital CEO Ibrahim Haleem said that early detection of diseases through early tests can significantly reduce the state's expenditure on treatment. He emphasized that the government already spends hundreds of millions on treatment every year.
