Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer has left tonight for United States of America on an official trip during which deliberations will be held to further expand bilateral relations between Maldives and America.

The Foreign Ministry said that the trip will last until Thursday. During the trip, Minister Zameer will be meeting with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other senior officials of the State.

Zameer will also be meeting with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power during his visit to Washington.

In Washington, the Minister will be holding discussions with the Council of Foreign Relations, and will also meet with Maldivians residing in the city.

Zameer will also visit New York, where he will meet with United Nations Secretary General António Guterres and other senior officials.

America-Maldives relations have been further strengthened during the administration of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The past seven months have seen senior officials from the USA meeting government officials in Maldives.
