The Ministry issued a circular to schools today, prohibiting them from calling teachers in for work during the first, second or mid term holidays of the current academic year.
Minister of Education, Dr Ismail Shafeeu had earlier assured that efforts will be made to reduce the workload of teachers and principals, affirming that this task is of the highest priority to the Ministry this year.
Moreover, in a bid to address concerns of teachers regarding active Viber groups, the Ministry also banned schools from creating Viber groups that enable communications between parents and teachers last month.
Minister Ismail also revealed at the time that principals will be instructed not to summon teachers to work after 18:00 hrs if the school is operated on one shift while schools run on two shifts will be notified to refrain from calling teachers in to work after 21:00 hrs.
