HPA to conduct inspection of food outlets

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has decided that it will be conducting inspections of food outlets in Male', VilliMale' and Hulhumale'.

A statement released by HPA yesterday stated that the agency will be conducting the inspections ahead of the upcoming month of Ramadan with the aim of promoting adherence to maintaining food hygiene standards, ensuring service is given with emphasis on protecting public health, and raising awareness on overall food safety stands.

The inspections are due to commence on February 18, and will be conducted in collaboration with Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Male' City Council, Hulhumale' Hospital and other relevant authorities.

The HPA has conducted similar food outlet inspections earlier as well. They have been known to take appropriate action against any outlets found to be in breach of accepted standards.
