Parliament Secretariat has clarified that their Counsel General Fathimath Filza has not issued any formal advice on the matter of resubmitting names of rejected cabinet members for parliament approval.

Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) claimed in a press conference yesterday that Filza had stated that names of cabinet members who were rejected from receiving parliamentary approval cannot be sent back for parliamentary approval again after reappointment.

Asked about this matter by Mihaaru News, Parliament's Communications Director Hassan Ziyau maintained that Filza had not given any advise on the matter in her official capacity.

MDP issued a whip line instructing four out of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's 22 cabinet ministers must be rejected. However, in the vote held on Monday, only three cabinet members were rejected from receiving parliament approval.

The three who did not receive parliament approval are Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed and Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

However, only a few hours later, President Dr Muizzu reappointed all three to their original cabinet positions, holding a ceremony at the President's Office the same evening where Supreme Court Judge HusnuSuood officiated over their oath taking.
