Authentic Maldivian products have been launched in the Japanese market for the first time on 24 December.
The Business Center Corporation (BCC), registered under Ministry of Economic Development, said in a statement that products under the label "Authentic Maldives" were launched in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Corporation (JETRO).
Ambassador of Maldives to Japan Hassan Sobir, Deputy Ambassador Mohamed Ameeth and senior officials of JETRO attended the ceremony.
"One Village One Product" is an initiative to introduce products from across the globe to Japanese markets.
Under the program, products from participating countries are displayed at Japan's airport outlets, allowing visitors to purchase them.
Products of Maldives will now be available at Narita International Airport and Kansai International Airport in Japan, BCC said.
JETRO will also be hosting sales events in different parts of the country to display and offer Maldivian products under the "Authentic Maldives" brand.
It has been decided that the products offered under the label will be increased in the future.
