BML launches motorised wheelchair donation programme

Bank of Maldives (BML), on Wednesday, donated wheelchairs to four residents of Ihavandhoo, Haa Alif Atoll under the motorised wheelchair donation programme, which was launched to provide assistance to people with special needs.

The company will be making wheelchair donations to individuals who have mobility impairments that interfere with their ability to walk and are also deemed capable of operating motorised wheelchairs.

Throughout the course of the program, BML has plans to distribute a total of 60 motorised wheelchairs. The donations are being received on an island by island basis, for all people in need of motorised wheelchairs.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BML Aishath Noordeen stated that the initiative aimed at providing provide motorised wheelchairs to all those in need of them across Maldives.

"[Our] bank has always prioritized programmes that help the community. We are happy to be able to improve the lives of many by providing these special motorized wheelchairs." said the Deputy CEO.

BML previously donated 16 wheelchairs to individuals in seven islands. These islands are Dhihdhoo, Haa Alif Atoll, Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll, Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll, Naifaru Lhaviyani Atoll, Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll, Rasdhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll and Hulhumeedhoo in Addu Atoll.
