Local telecom giant Dhiraagu, launched its high-speed fibre connection and IPTV service 'Dhiraagu TV', in Meedhoo, Raa Atoll.
Dhiraagu celebrated the introduction of the two services by hosting a colourful event for the occasion. The event included a children’s evening and traditional 'boduberu' performances.
Dhiraagu initiated the programme 'Fibre to the Home' in 2016, in order to provide high-speed fibre services to all inhabited islands in Maldives. The telecommunication company currently provides these services to the capital city of Male’, Villimale', Hulhumale’ and 50 other islands.
Fibre broadband is the latest technology used to provide broadband services worldwide. Dhiraagu fibre broadband is currently the fastest internet service in Maldives, with speeds reaching up to 100 Mbps and a monthly data allowance of 1TB. According to Dhiraagu, the service has also been introduced in Gadhdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
Dhiraagu also launched a fixed broadband promotion in November, including free installations of fibre connections and a 25 percent discount for three months on fees. The promotion is valid until the end of December.
