Telecom giant Ooredoo Maldives announced that its popular 5K run, 'Color Run 2018', is returning on November 23.

In a press release on Monday, Ooredoo stated that registrations for this year's run will begin at the end of September. The run is open for all interested.

Ooredoo Color Run was first held last year in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale. The five-kilometre run enjoyed much popularity and received a record number of participants for a local run.

Regarding this year's event, the company's CEO Najib Khan said, “Ooredoo Color Run was started as a fun and unique run that promotes running as a great way to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Last year, we had an incredible time at the very first Ooredoo Color Run, which saw the biggest participation in a local run so far. We look forward to even more excitement this year, with many fun surprises for participants along the way."

Ooredoo Color Run features colour stations at each kilometre mark, where participants are rewarded with a burst of colour powder. The event is not timed and participants can choose to "walk, jog, run or dance to the finish line", where they are awarded more colour throws and finisher medals.

The event also gives out fun awards such as the Most Entertaining Runners and the Most Fancy Runner, with fantastic prizes for the winners. Various local musicians also grace the event to hype up the crowds.

Ooredoo added that it will also announce an official Charity Partner for the Color Run similar to the previous year. The charity received a percentage of proceeds from the run while participants can also make donations for the cause.
