A special audit report has revealed that it could not be verified whether MVR 96 million, which was given by Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) to its staff as overtime pay in 2014 and 2015, were truly paid for overtime work.

Auditor General Hassan Ziyath's audit report on the Ministry of Health and the institutions it manages, stated that IGMH's records show that staff had logged in between 10 - 24 hours of overtime on some days during that period.

However, the report noted that the state hospital lacked sufficient controlling measures in its overtime record keeping. Hence the Audit Office could not verify whether IGMH had paid the MVR 96 million for the overtime work itself.

The report further noted that the audit report of 2014 had highlighted the same issue and called for amendments.
