Minister of Economic Affairs Mohamed Saeed has said that labourers must be paid worthy wages in order to achieve economic development in the country.
Speaking at a rally of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Saeed stated that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has been working to ensure that income per capita is valued at USD 9,000. Saeed also shed light on the developments in the country, noting that the Maldives is a nation with an expanding labour market, marching towards riches and growth.
Saeed further commented that construction of 20-30 resorts in the Maldives had been hindered due to lack of trust in the country by banks, and lacking an efficient credit system.
