Dhiraagu gains MVR 898 million as profits in 2017.

According to the financial report for 2017, publicised by the biggest telecom company in Maldives on Monday, the company earned MVR 2.6 billion. After paying MVR 160 million as tax, the company had MVR 1 billion as profit.

In 2017, Dhiraagu earned MVR 898 million as gross profit and in 2016 the company had earned MVR 840 million as gross profit.

The company has decided on a dividend of MVR 11.81 per share.

In the annual report Dhiraagu CEO Ismail Rasheed stated that the company had earned record amount of profits in 2017. He added that the business profited in all directions as they had gained in terms of profit, as well as additional customers.

He revealed that mobile customers percentage increased by nine percent and fixed broadband increased by 18 percent. In addition to this, under the project to provide fiber broadband, they were able to provide service to 20 more islands.

Ismail noted that they introduced Dhiraagu TV, Dhiraagu pay and changed their branding in 2017.
