United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) budget airline FlyDubai is to stop flying to the Maldives from this February onwards.
A statement released by the airline stated that they will stop flying from February 27. The airline offered to make arrangements for passengers, who had booked later dates, to fly from Emirates. The option to refund the tickets is also available.
FlyDubai had not given any reason as to why it decided to stop operations to the Maldives. However, it is alleged that the decision came after it was decided that FlyDubai and Emirates would share codes. While FlyDubai decided to stop flying, Emirates have five flights per week during peak season.
When FlyDubai commenced operations to the Maldives on January 19, 2013, they had five flights which now have been reduced to four flights per week.
