Globally renowned hotel brand Hilton Worldwide has decided to operate a resort under its Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts chain in the Maldives.

One of the most expensive brands of Hilton, Waldorf Astoria had previously managed the resort in Haa Alif atoll Manafaru island in partnership with local firm Sun Travels. Meanwhile, another Hilton brand, Conrad, already operates a resort in the island of Rangali in Alif Dhaal atoll.

According to travel news website TTG Asia, the Waldorf Astoria resort will span three islands in the south of Kaafu atoll. Located around 20 minutes away from Velana International Airport, the resort will feature 130 villas and 10 dining outlets.

The website did not disclose the names of the islands.

Scheduled to be unveiled in 2019, the Waldorf Astoria Maldives will be Hilton’s second property in the archipelago.
