Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) on Wednesday announced the decision to hike the prices of the Maldives main airport’s cargo terminal services from September 1 onwards.
MACL’s Managing Director Adil Moosa stated that there will be a 10-15 percent increase in Velana International Airport (VIA)’s cargo terminal services with the new changes. However, he assured that the new prices will be within a reasonable range.
“The changes made to cargo services take the market prices and the prices of similar services provided by others into account. But we always revise these prices,” he said.
The company declared that the prices are being revised in order to enhance and advance VIA’s air cargo services.
The new prices according to MACL’s circular are:
Handling fee, Storage fee
MVR1.15 per kilogram
MVR 28.75 for shipments under 25 kilograms
Demurrage storage fee
Free of charge - first three days
MVR 2.30 per kilogram - Day 4 – 10
MVR 3.45 per kilogram - Day 11 – 20
MVR 5.75 per kilogram – Day 21 – 30
Minimum fee – MVR 30
Cold storage fee
MVR 1.15 per kilogram
MACL had also made changes to VIA’s cargo services and released circulars on January 30 and May 15 earlier this year.
