Housing Development Corporation has awarded the project to develop a water theme park and a hotel in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale to a Malaysian company for USD 25 million (MVR 385.5 million).

HDC’s Managing Director Mohamed Saiman stated Sunday that the project was awarded to Miri Housing Development Realty two weeks ago for a period of 35 years.

The water theme park is to be developed on the waterfront of Hulhumale’s southeast coast. The park will have various features such as water slides, children’s pool, bumper boats, water house, water gyros, aqua loops, fountain square and more.

MD Saiman declared that the first theme park to be opened in the Maldives will be unveiled before the end of 2018.
