Mayor Azim closes down five unlicensed businesses within MCC

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated today that he has closed down five separate businesses that were being run without the necessary permits inside the Male' City Council (MCC) premises.

In a City Council meeting held today, Azim said that he had received information that five different business ventures were being conducted in the Public Services Department of MCC against guidelines.

The Mayor announced that he had brought all these businesses to a stop on Monday.

"When I visited the Public Services Department, I learned, and saw for myself, some businesses being run there without having obtained the necessary permits. There were five such businesses being run illegally. This included a cafe' as well," Azim said.

Azim stated that he had proceeded to bring these businesses to an end as it is amongst the duties of the council to prevent actions that are in contravention of regulations.

"If, in any instance, something is being done inside the Council against the regulations, then everyone here would want to bring it to an immediate end. This is why I have done the same today," Azim said in yesterday's meeting.

The Mayor said that the five businesses had ceased operations on the orders of the council. However, the matter is being further looked in to.
