The Cabinet has decided to establish three additional institutions as part of the national policy to promote patriotism.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office yesterday evening, Mohamed Firzul, Under-Secretary of Public Policy at the President's Office, announced that the Cabinet has decided to establish the Dhivehi National Heritage Research Centre, the Dhivehi National Heritage College, and the Dhivehi National Publisher.
All three institutions will operate under the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage.
As per the President's Office, the role of the Dhivehi National Heritage Research Center is to foster and uphold a patriotic identity. This involves collecting academic data, conducting research, producing scholarly papers, publishing findings, organizing academic conferences on patriotism, and promoting awareness and instilling nationalism.
The Dhivehi National Heritage College's responsibility is to cultivate academically competent individuals in this field, recruit researchers, and instill in people a sense of Maldivian identity, the President's Office said.
According to the President's Office, the Dhivehi National Publisher's role is to publish and distribute works created by Maldivians through the new initiative.
Currently, there are two institutions under the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage; the Dhivehi Language Academy and the National Centre for Cultural Heritage.
Reviving patriotism in the Maldives has been a significant pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
