Pay harmonization efforts for Police and MNDF: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, said that the government has started begun efforts to increase the remuneration of the Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) as part of the state's pay harmonization initiative.

During the ceremony to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Maldives Police Service, President Solih emphasized the importance of improving the benefits of government employees to enhance the state governance system. He said that the government has already harmonized the remuneration for the education sector employees and that the health sector employees will receive similar benefits in May. The details of the plan has been announced on April 30.

President Solih announced that the National Pay Commission is currently conducting surveys to harmonize the remuneration of law enforcement and security authorities. He further added that once the pay harmonization initiative concludes, all government sector employees will enjoy the same benefits.

Addressing housing issues faced by law enforcement officers, President Solih mentioned that officers of both Maldives Police Service and the Maldives National Defense Force face similar challenges, particularly for those serving away from their families and hometown. He added that the government is working towards improving the situation by making changes to the rent of housing flats provided to officers service at Maldives Police under the "Blue Housing Scheme".
