Taylor’s University, Malaysia's leading private university, has announced the launch of the Taylor’s Alumni Maldives Chapter in Male'. The establishment of the Alumni Maldives Chapter was prompted by the introduction of Taylor’s University’s affiliate programs in Villa College, one of the top Maldivian colleges.
Late last year, Villa College introduced Taylor’s University’s Bachelor of Culinary Management, Bachelor of International Hospitality Management, Mass Communication, Masters of International Hospitality Management, and Masters of Communication. The Alumni Maldives Chapter was established to enable alumni to reconnect with their alma mater and peers.
The ceremony was attended by industry guests, senior officials, faculty members and staff from Taylor’s University and Villa College, as well as Taylor’s alumni. During the event, two categories of awards were presented to alumni – the Outstanding Distinguished Alumni Award and the Young Distinguished Alumni Award. These are the highest honors bestowed on a graduate of Taylor’s School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events (SHTE) and Taylor’s School of Food Studies & Gastronomy (SFSG). The awards were presented to alumni who have excelled in their professional lives, contributed to society, and supported the university.
Qaisar Naseem and Mohamed Fraath received the Outstanding Distinguished Alumni Award, while Hussain Ahsan, Aminath Ishrath, and Shujau Mohamed received the Young Distinguished Alumni Award. Additionally, the Vice Rector of Villa College, Dr. Ali Najeeb, was appointed as an Associate Professor at the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events of Taylor’s University.
As part of the partnership agreement, Villa College and Taylor’s University will work together to offer new courses. Villa College has committed to providing local students with the opportunity to obtain certificates from internationally renowned academic institutes while remaining in their home country.
