Another man was arrested on Monday in connection with the vandalism of the 'Juice Time' cafe in Hulhumalé.

The Maldives Police Service revealed that a 28-year-old man was arrested under a court order for vandalising the small cafe on February 17.

On Sunday night, the police said that a 19-year-old was arrested for allegedly being involved in the incident. Reportedly, he was one of the two individuals who were actively involved in wrecking the cafe. The Criminal Court has remanded him for 15 days.

Two men in helmets had entered the cafe by breaking the glass windows. The CCTV footage shows the men using iron bars to destroy items kept on the counter and the shelves. The shopkeeper was not harmed and fled upon seeing them approach. They could then be seen stealing cash from the register before getting out through the window and driving off.

The police searched a house in relation to the incident last Wednesday and arrested seven individuals from the scene. They also found drugs on the premises, and confiscated improvised weapons from the location.

Five of them were remanded in custody for four days, and the other was given a conditional release. The woman arrested at the scene was not taken to court, and she was later released from police custody.

Following the attack, the police launched a new operation aimed at stopping and searching people who wear helmets in areas where they are not required by law.
