Famous Thai hotel chain Centara Hotels and Resorts has announced that they will sign two more resort projects in the Maldives this year.
In an interview to Bangkok Post, the company’s Vice President for Business Development Suparat Chirathivat said “We will invest more in the Maldives and aim to sign at least two more projects this year, including one management contract and one investment.”
The vice president stated that Centara met with luck by establishing properties in the Maldives since room rates in the archipelago are significantly high unlike Thailand.
“Competition in the Maldives is high but we were there quite early. Our team understands this resort market quite well so our resorts perform quite nicely and the reputation of our brand is good,” he added.
Centara currently operates two resort properties in the Maldives with Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa in Alif Dhaal atoll and Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa in Kaafu atoll. The Thai hotel brand boasts total 65 hotels, operating across 11 countries including the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
