The rate of inflation, as measured by the annual percentage change in the national Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 3.1 percent in September 2022.
Inflation rate rose from 2.6 percent in August 2022, reports Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
The largest contributors to the annual rate of inflation during September 2022 came from;
- Fish (0.5 percentage points)
- Petrol for personal transport equipment (0.4 percentage points)
- Meat (0.3 percentage points)
- Medicine (0.2 percentage points)
- Passenger transport by air (0.2 percentage points)
- Restaurants and cafes (0.2 percentage points)
- Mobile communication services (-0.4 percentage points)
- Vegetables (-0.2 percentage points)
Meanwhile, the monthly percentage change in the national CPI decelerated to 0.16 percent in September 2022, from 0.22 percent in the preceding month.
