Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) is seeking local and foreign contractors to develop the new VIP complex of the Maldives’ main airport.

MACL’s Managing Director Adil Moosa told Mihaaru that Velana International Airport (VIA)’s new VIP complex will be a four storey structure constructed on the waterfront area which previously housed the restaurant Aqua. Interested contractors are to submit their proposals next week.

“For this project, we extended invitations separately to companies of the Maldives and international firms that are heading various projects of the airport,” said MD Adil.

According to MACL, the state-of-the-art VIP complex will be developed and unveiled within this year. The complex will feature a range of facilities including check-in counters, food and beverage outlets, restrooms and prayer rooms.

“It will be unique compared to the current VIP and CIP lounges,” declared Adil, saying that the complex will boast exquisite interior and exterior designs.

The new complex will also have separate VIP and CIP lounges with private parlours available on demand.
