The Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced that 162 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives while 112 recovered from the disease.
According to the agency, of the new cases, 76 were from the greater Male’ region, 68 cases from residential islands, 14 cases from operational resorts and four cases from industrial islands.
Currently, the island nation records a total of 26,667 virus cases of which 2,784 are active cases, in addition to 23,803 recoveries and 71 deaths.
On March 12, 2020, WHO classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. To date, the new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 143 million people and claimed over 3 million lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 122 million people have recovered.
