Former Cabinet Minister Dr Mariyam Shakeela has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the School Of Management (SOM) of Curtin University, Australia.

Speaking to Mihaaru, Shakeela described the opportunity as a privilege to serve as a Maldivian woman.

Shakeela has often lectured at Curtin University during her visits to Australia and she has also perused her Master's Degree and Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) at the university.

She had previously served as the Minister of Heath, Gender and Family, Environment and Energy, and Foreign Affairs during the governments of Former President Mohamed Waheed and incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Shakeela described the opportunity as a new learning experience. She expressed her deepest gratitude for the University for granting her the opportunity.

Curtin University is internationally renowned and has established various campuses in a number of countries. Shakeela will be joined by 14 other members on the Board.
