The Maldives awarded the project to establish the sewerage system network in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale’s second phase of development to Male Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) for USD 25 million (MVR 385.5 million).

MWSC’s Managing Director Fazul Rasheed and Housing Development Corporation (HDC)’s Managing Director Mohamed Saiman signed the agreement on Monday.

HDC’s MD Saiman stated that the project to establish the sewerage system in Hulhumale second phase includes designing the detailed plans to lay pipes across the road, provision of materials required for the project and supervising the progress of work.

MWSC’s MD Fazul announced that work to lay the sewerage pipes across roads is already underway in Hulhumale second phase. The materials for the project had been acquired last year.

“We’re hoping to finish that work on schedule. Our target is to complete the second phase project by September 2018,” he said.

Saiman also announced that tarring of roads in Hulhumale second phase is set to commence soon.
