Ooredoo bags prizes at IBA, APAC Awards

Ooredoo Maldives received the Gold Stevie for the prestigious Telecom Company of the Year Award at the 17th Annual International Business Awards (IBA).

The telecommunications company company was also named as the Gold Stevie winner of the Award for Innovation in Apps and Award for Innovation in Customer Service at the 2020 Asia Pacific Stevie Awards (APAC).

Ooredoo received the following awards:

Wins at the Stevie International Business Award Wins

- Gold Stevie: Company of the Year in telecommunications

- Silver Stevie: Most Innovative Company of the Year

- Bronze Stevie: Mobile Site and App Award

- Bronze Stevie: Most Valuable Corporate Response

Wins at the 2020 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards

- Gold Stevie: Award for Innovation in Apps

- Gold Stevie: Award for Innovation in Customer Service

- Stevie Silver: Award for Excellence in Innovation in Technology Industries

Over the past year, we have invested in strengthening our telecom infrastructure and introduced first of its kind services we have transformed Ooredoo App with our e-commerce platform and Digital Financial services for consumers and business segments to provide an overall lifestyle super App", stated Managing Director and CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, Najib Khan.

With the same spirit, our team will continue to improve, innovate and provide new opportunities, advanced digital services to our customers and the people of the Maldives".

Ooredoo Maldives particularly expressed satisfaction on receiving the Stevie Award for the ‘Most Valuable Corporate Response’. The award was granted with consideration to measures taken within the company as well as for customers and the community amid the COVID 19 pandemic.

In order to support the Maldivian government's' response to the pandemic, Ooredoo Group and Ooredoo Maldives contributed a total of MVR 2.5 million to procure ventilators, personal protective equipment, and testing supplies.

Additionally, Ooredoo Maldives collaborated closely with state agencies to facilitate critical connectivity support and mass awareness on COVID-19 as well as digital solutions to enable online education, health services and commerce. The company also swiftly introduced a work-from-home policy after the implementation of lockdown measures in the capital city of Male' while continuing the provision of services.

Furthermore, the telecommunications company asserted that it would continue to fulfill a role in reaching a transformational era of innovative technologies by focusing on digitalisation and leveraging content solutions.
