The island council of Maalhos in Baa atoll has put up the project to develop a city hotel in the island for bid.
Maalhos Island Council’s President Abdulla Shujau said Sunday that they are seeking contractors to develop the southeast coast of the island as a tourist zone. Interested parties are to submit their bid proposals to the council by February 12 next year.
According to the island council, the project’s Bid Book will be available at the council administration from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on all official working days until January 15. The administration will hold the pre-bid meeting on January 16.
A land plot of 2,483 square feet will be leased for a period of 50 years for the city hotel.
The council president expressed hopes for a better economy in the island with the city hotel, including more job opportunities.
“As Dharavandhoo Airport is near to this island and we already do guesthouse business here, we can do well in tourism in this island,” declared Shujau.
The island council signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government last February to develop a city hotel in Maalhos.
