Publicised on Wednesday, Big 7 Travel's annual list indicates a five-rank drop for the island nation, which placed sixth in 2019.
Sydney tops the list, which marks the second consecutive year for Australia to take the title as the most Instagrammable country. The top 10 destinations to make the list this year are:
1. Sydney, Australia
2. Hong Kong
3. Dubai, UAE
4. New York City, USA
5. Singapore
6. Tokyo, Japan
7. Lisbon, Portugal
8. Bali, Indonesia
9. London, United Kingdom
10. Jaipur, India
Big 7 Travel ranked total 50 countries, including Dubrovnik, Croatia and Paris, France, as well as Istanbul, Turkey and Cusco, Peru. Bringing up the rear is Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
According to the travel site, the results are based on the destinations' visual allure and social media popularity. The final list is compiled via a scoring system which analyse the amount of hashtags per destination, a survey conducted by the travel site's parent company Big 7 Media among its audience of 1.5 million, and votes cast by a panel of travel experts.
Big 7 Media reiterated the critical role Instagram plays in planning holidays, noting that 67 percent of people surveyed visited a new destination after seeing it on Instagram, and that 61 percent said they booked a specific hotel after seeing it on their feed.
Moreover, 33 percent of the people surveyed stated that they research their upcoming holiday destination on Instagram.
