Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, on Wednesday, met Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)'s Vice President D. Jagatheesa Pandian.
During the meeting held at AIIB's head office, the top diplomat informed the financial institution of the Maldivian government's economic agenda and discussed avenues for further cooperation.
Vice President D. J. Pandian assured that AIIB would provide assistance in attaining Maldives' development goals.
Minister Shahid was accompanied by Maldivian Ambassador to China Aishath Azeema, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, Director of Communications Miuvaan Mohamed and Assistant Director Maryam Bassama Farooq.
The foreign minister's two-day diplomatic mission to China is being undertaken upon the invitation of State Councillor and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi.
(AIIB) was found under China’s Belt and Road initiative, and the Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of China.
