The national carrier Maldivian, on Saturday, officially opened its new ticket office in the capital city of Male'.
Maldivian's call centre was also transferred to the new building and was unofficially in operation alongside the ticket office since August.
The building was inaugurated by Island Aviation Services (IAS) Managing Director Mohamed Rizwee and Deputy Managing Director Aishath Jenniffer as well as some long-serving employees of the company.
Speaking at the function, Managing Director Rizwee attributed the decision to establish the new building to a shortage of space experienced at the previous ticket office.
Rizwee asserted that the establishment would facilitate increased efficiency and expansion of the ticket office's services in addition to providing employees with an adequate working environment.
Furthermore, the managing director revealed plans to commence flights to new destinations and acquire more aircraft. He also stated that the airline's mobile application would be launched within the year.
