Ooredoo Maldives announced the launch of a two-day Expo in preparation for Ooredoo Color Run Addu 2019.
The Expo's first day will kick off on June 25 at Blue Lagoon, Equator Village in the island of Gan from 1400 to 1800 hrs. Following a short break, the expo will resume from 2000 to 2200 hrs.
The second day will be hosted at Hithadhoo Youth Center from 1000 to 1800 hrs and 2000 to 2200 hrs.
Ooredoo Color Run participants can collect their kits and merchandise at the Expo by submitting their National ID cards along with a printed or digital copy of their receipt of registration.
Kits can also be collected on behalf of a registered runner by submitting the collector’s ID card, a printed or digital copy of the participant’s ID card and registration receipt. If needed, an original passport or license card can be presented instead of an ID card.
The Ooredoo Color Run is a five-kilometre run open solely for applicants over the age of six. Each kilometre covered during the run will be rewarded with a burst of colour powder at the colour station. As the run is not a timed event, participants can choose to walk, jog or run to the finish line, where their efforts are celebrated with colour throws, finisher medals and a music show.
The run will commence on June 28 at 1600 hrs from Hithadhoo Stage Area and conclude at the same location two hours later.
In addition to the Color Run, Ooredoo will host a Kite Festival from 0800 hrs to 1000 on June 28 at Hithadhoo Stage Area. Open for all, the festival involves several activities suited for families such as kite flying, kite making workshops, children's games and a special display by Maldives Police Services.
Any kits remaining after the Expo will be available for sale at the Kite Festival.
Ooredoo also plans to collaborate with Twitsaafu, a volunteer-led cleanup movement, to host an Addu Edition on June 29 from 1600 – 1800 hrs. Twitsaafu began with a single tweet earlier this month and has hosted multiple events in Male’ and Hulhumale’. The event in Addu City marks the initiative's expansion to other areas across Maldives.
The movement aims to solve waste management issues prevalent across Maldives, in order to preserve natural beauty and resources. Additionally, it intends to create a generation that will work towards establishing environment-friendly practices and is mindful of the world around them.
Ooredoo Color Run in Addu is supported by a team of partners which includes Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Unix Sporting, Addu City Council, Maldives Police Services, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Island Aviation, Equator Village, Addu Medicity, HK Rentals, Note Cosmetics, eHUB, One Degree, Buruzu Catering, WAMCO Addu, Fenaka Corporation Limited and Addu Live.
