The young victim of a gang violence attack, who has been missing for over a week, was found Sunday.

According to Maldives Police Service's spokesperson, the teenage girl had presented herself to the police station on Sunday evening. The police declined to disclose further details of the case.

The 15-year-old Nashfa Hassan of Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaal Atoll, who currently resides in the capital's reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale, reportedly went missing on August 19 after a video went viral on social media, which depicted three girls verbally harassing and physically assaulting Nashfa.

The video is said to have been shot by another girl in alliance with the attackers. Although the video of the attack was reportedly shot in May 2018, it was aggressively shared online only during this past week.

While the police officially launched a search for Nashfa late last week, local media Mihaaru cited a credible source that Nashfa's family did not formally report her as missing despite her having been out of sight for a week. The police also stated that Nashfa's family confirmed her as missing only after the viral video was analyzed by the police.

The police also have not confirmed as of yet whether any actions have been taken to interrogate or arrest Nashfa's attackers.
