The police have revealed that they are currently looking for the gang violence victim by a group of four young girls.

Police has requested the public's support in helping them find the young victim of this attack. The victim, Nashfa Hassan of Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaal Atoll, has been reportedly missing since August 19.

According to the police, Nashfa's family confirmed her as missing only after the viral video of her attack was analyzed by the police.

However, no report has been made of any sighting of Nashfa since she went missing.

The video depicts the victim being taken to a secluded area near the 'China flats' in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale, where the victim was then verbally harassed and physically assaulted. The video is said to have been shot by another girl in alliance with the attackers. Although the video of the attack is said to have been shot in May 2018, the video was aggressively shared online only during this past week.

As reported by a credible source, Nashfa's family did not formally report her as missing despite her having been out of sight for a week.

However, Nashfa's mother, Seema Ismail, reported that the attack was carried out only after Nashfa was 'taken' out of her home. Speaking to local news media 'Mihaaru', Seema stated that a group of four girls had come to her home looking for Nashfa.

"Despite being invited into the home, the group of four girls insistently asked for Nashfa to meet them outside", said Seema.

On account of the four girls' militant behavior, Seema assertedly warned Nashfa not to comply with them. However, she assured her mother that the four girls were her friends and maintained she will return home soon.

Further explaining the events of the day of the attack, Seema stated that Nashfa had returned home 'soon' after that meeting but that she had a look of despair upon her return. When questioned about what happened, Nashfa refrained from confiding in her mother, keeping her mother in the dark about the attack.

According to Seema, she was only made aware of the attack after someone showed her the viral video. Seema further claimed that Nashfa went missing upon the video becoming viral online. She expressed her extreme dismay upon seeing the video and said that there is never an excuse for physical violence no matter how big a problem is.

Seema further reported Nashfa having left home once before, and that she had reported that incident to the police.

"Due to the lack of response I got from the police the last time I reported, I was convinced of the ineffectuality of making such reports this time as well", said Seema.

The police are currently seeking any information regarding the missing girl and have made requests to the public, asking to accordingly report to the Family and Child Protection Department with any useful information regarding or sightings of Nashfa. Reports can be made via phone calls to 3000600 or 9790163.

Although no arrests have been made in connection to this attack, the police are currently looking into this matter. Further details on the case are yet to be confirmed.
