Four deaths: most COVID fatalities within 24 hours

Man getting treated for COVID-19 in Hhulhumale' Medical Facility passed away on Thursday night. This is the fourth COVID death within a 24 hour period.

It is also the highest number of COVID related deaths within a day so far.

The deaths include a 77-year-old woman who passed away late Wednesday evening. She was being treated in Hulhumale' Medical Facility. Meanwhile, on Thursday evening, a 97-year-old woman getting treatment in Lh. Naifaru Hospital passed away. An Indian tourist quarantining in AA. Rasdhoo had also passed away today.

They were all elderly people.

With these new figures, Maldives has recorded 78 fatalities due to COVID-19.

The number of daily COVID-19 statistics have been increasing at an alarming rate, leading to travel restrictions within the country in addition to a curfew from 2100hrs to 0400hrs in the Greater Male' Area.

Within the past twenty four hours, 703 people have tested positive for COVID-19, out of which 526 people were from Male' Area alone. So far 33,368 people tested positive so far.
