The newly appointed Ambassadors of Bulgaria, Denmark and Ireland presented their credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday.
The Ambassadors presented their letters of credence at separate ceremonies held at the President’s Office.
During the meeting with Ambassador of Bulgaria Eleonora Dimitrova, President Solih expressed interest in advancing the existing bilateral relationship between the two countries, particularly in the areas of tourism cooperation, renewable energy initiatives, and combating terrorism and radicalism.
He also highlighted that blue economy initiatives and sustainable development areas of focus under the administration's Strategic Action Plan (SAP).
Speaking with Ambassador of Denmark Freddy Svane, the president expressed hopes of building closer trade and development partnerships between the two countries, especially in the sectors of trade, tourism, climate change and connectivity.
President Solih highlighted that Maldives and Ireland have enjoyed close diplomatic relations for the past 20 years, during his meeting with Ambassador of Ireland Brendan Ward. He also mentioned the high number of tourist arrivals from Ireland and expressed confidence that these figures would increase in the future.
Additionally, President Solih and Ambassador Ward deliberated on ways to enhance cooperation on several matters of mutual concern including environmental conservation and climate change as well as increasing trade and commerce between Maldives and Ireland. He further discussed the possibility of lowering tariff rates on Maldivian fish exports.
