Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL), which oversees the operations at the Velana International Airport, has announced nine vacant stalls will be leased as tourist representative counters.
The deadline for interested candidates to submit their paperwork is 2 January, 2023, and proposals for the stalls must be submitted before 16 January, 2023, MACL's announcement stated.
Applications from licensed owners and operators of hotels, guesthouses, dive shops, marinas for yachts as well as well as tourist agencies will be accepted.
The stalls are located outside the arrival area at the airport; currently there are about 80 tourist stalls at the Velana International Airport. They were renovated in November, last year.
December is typically a busy month for the Maldives resorts, as the holiday season is in full swing. The main international airport, connected to the capital city, has seen an influx of tourists as of late.
