The management of Fenaka Corporation has directed all employees to clear their criminal records.

The newly appointed Managing Director, Muaz Mohamed Rasheed, informed 'Mihaaru News' today that employees were asked to clear their criminal records because previous governments did not address this when hiring staff.

"This is being done to ensure the safety and security of all employees," stated Muaz, who was appointed as the Managing Director of Fenaka by Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government, which assumed office on May 17.

Former Madaveli MP Muaz said that an employee of the company has been implicated in a murder case due to the company not clearing its criminal records when hiring individuals. He added that it is crucial to clear the criminal records of employees to prevent such incidents.

Muaz stated that the criminal record clearance process will be completed by the end of this week.

He said that the legal department will make decisions regarding employees convicted of a criminal offense. Fenaka is the state-owned company with the largest number of employees.

Muaz said that Fenaka currently has around 8,000 employees, which is more than the required number. He added that the matter is currently under investigation.

The company currently has 2,000 contracted employees.

During the presidential election campaign in September, President Dr. Muizzu and officials of the current government emphasized the issue of Fenaka employing more people than necessary.
